Gopher Gold Slot Game Review
Gopher Gold is one of the older offerings that has been brought to us by the Microgaming team. It is also one of their simpler creations as well and while the exact date it was delivered to the market is unknown, the basic element of the slot highlights that it has been around for a while.
Unlike what we get from more modern slot games, there is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary in terms of the graphics or the visuals of this slot game. It is full of 2D cartoon pictures rather than anything amazing.
GAMEPLAY
We go back to the old days of the reels taking up all of the screen with Gopher Gold, and as such there is no theme or storyline to the game. What there are is five reels and five paylines so this is not an overly high volatility slot by any means.
The other thing the Gopher Gold game has is a mix of traditional and unique icons. The lower paying icons on this game are the more regular ones of the stand A, K, Q, J and 10 while the higher paying ones have that feel of the game attached to it. They are a pick axe, a cart full of golden nuggets, a hurricane lamp and exploding dynamite. There is a wild icon, which in Gopher Gold is the Gopher himself. He replaces all other icons on the reels. The key symbol in this slot game is the Gopher Gold logo. If you fill the payline with five of these you will be rewarded to the tune of 12000x your original bet.
BONUS FEATURE
One area where the Gopher Gold game lets itself down is in the bonus features. That is because there isn’t any, not even a free spins feature which we are accustomed to seeing with the best slots these days. The only additional nuance Gopher Gold has going for it is that winning lines are able to be made from right to left, not just the usual left to right. This opens the door to a few more small wins than normal.
RTP
The RTP rating for Gopher Gold comes in at 96.3% which is slightly above the average and on the side of the player so that is a positive.
VERDICT
There is a cheerful and fun element to Gopher Gold but it is extremely basic and very much outdated in terms of the graphics on offer and the gameplay that it provides. It is a low volatility slot so if you are looking for a machine to play to work out how online slots work then Gopher Gold acts as a decent offering for that, but if you are a seasoned slot player looking for something to get the adrenalin pumping this probably isn’t it. For what it is, it is difficult to criticise Gopher Gold, but in this day and age of modern, 3D themed video slots this does not standout too far.
