La Cucaracha Slot Game Review
The La Cucaracha slot game is one of those that was brought to us by the team at NextGen Gaming. There is no confirmed date of when it was released but it has been around for a fair while.
The slot game has an appealing look to it with its cartoon graphics but unfortunately La Cucaracha is a machine that can only be played on a desktop, with no mobile support to enjoy the game on.
GAMEPLAY
There is a Mexican theme to La Cucaracha, which is immediately evident when you load up the slot game. The machine has five reels and 25 paylines and gives you the chance to indulge yourself in some amazing Mexican traditions! The background is a desert in the Mexican landscape and the reels are littered with reminders of the Latin nation.
As with most slot machines, the lower paying icons are the regular playing cards. In La Cucaracha they are the A, K, Q, J, 10 and the 9. The unique higher paying icons all have a Mexican theme and include Tacos, Tequila shots and Maracas. Keep an eye out for the Wild and the Scatter icons. The Wild is a piping hot Chilli Pepper which replaces any of the icons except the Scatter. The Scatter is a strange looking cockroach mariachi.
BONUS FEATURE
There are a couple of interesting features in the La Cucaracha slot game. The first of them is the Free Spins feature which comes along when you get three of the Scatter symbols placed anywhere on the reels. You are given 10 free spins which are played with a 2x multiplier. This is a feature that can be reactivated so you could receive as many as 20 free spins!
The other feature is the Bonus one which comes along when the Chilli Pepper Wild appears anywhere across reels two, three or four. When this feature is launched you are taken to a fairground and an intriguing Chilli-Ow!-Meter is started. You are then required to choose any three of the Chilli stands which will see your meter adjusted. The prize you land after the third choice is what you win.

One area where La Cucaracha doesn’t rank as highly as other slot games is in the RTP rating. This NextGen offering comes with an RTP rating of just 95.33% which is below the average.
VERDICT
For a fairly low variance slot game there is a lot to like about the La Cucaracha slot, not least the strong Mexican theme which is quite compelling the longer you play the game. The features are pretty easy to activate in terms of the necessary icons coming along fairly regularly so it is possible to get some nice wins during that.
